• The Open Enrollment period begins on Monday, November 10, 2025, and ends on Friday, November 21, 2025. Changes made to your coverage will go into effect on January 1, 2026.

    The New School has designed a benefits plan to meet the needs of our diverse employees. Please review this important information regarding your elections. Benefits plan information can be found on the Benefits Overview.  

      Important Reminder

      You cannot change or adjust your benefit elections outside of the open enrollment period unless you experience a qualifying event such as marriage, divorce, the birth or adoption of a child, or gain or loss of coverage. Benefits governed by this rule include all medical and dental elections and flexible spending.

      Benefit changes due to a qualifying life event must be made within 31 days of the event and require submission of supporting documentation. After 31 days, changes to medical, dental, and flex spending benefits must be made during Open Enrollment.

      2026 Open Enrollment

      Our Open Enrollment Overview outlines the Open Enrollment process and changes for 2026. Information specific to full-time faculty and staff is provided below. Additional information can be found in your Open Enrollment Guide.

      Please note that 2025 benefits will automatically continue in 2026. You do not need to take any action if:

      • You (and your currently enrolled dependents, if any) want to continue to be enrolled in the same medical plan that you have in 2025
      • You (and your currently enrolled dependents, if any) want the same dental plan that you have in 2025
      • You do not want to make a 2026 Health Care or Dependent Care FSA election

    Graduates

    To apply to any of our Master's, Doctoral, Professional Studies Diploma, and Graduate Certificate programs, complete and submit the New School Online Application.
