    Profile

Psychoanalysis has always felt more at home in philosophy than in psychology for me given the nature of the challenge it presents for thinking through questions of consciousness, reason, truth, reality, and identity. One could say that psychoanalysis wants philosophy to think sexuality and the unconscious which it refuses to think. Philosophy, Gender and Sexuality, and Psychoanalytic Theory remain a fertile cross-roads in my work and teaching where I bring my experience as a practicing psychoanalyst to the reading of texts. I have taught on Jacques Lacan’s early and late work, focusing on reading the seminars, as well as, on the body in psychoanalytic thinking and the influence of structural linguistics on the reading of Freud.
