Talia Stevenson - Aunt Maude’s Economical Boiled Fruit Cake
I am a multidisciplinary artist who uses introspective narratives to find common ground and cultivate connections with my audience. My thesis piece, Aunt Maude’s Economical Boiled Fruit Cake, creates an experience with food-scented candles that trigger memories encoded in the senses, thus temporarily relieving homesickness. It highlights the way food reveals many things about the personal and cultural identity of the person eating it and the role sensory stimulation can play in treating dementia.
