Profile
Anne Gaines, artist and educator, lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. Her paintings focus on her local surroundings to show the everyday rhythm of her urban community. Gaines actively engages urban youth in art and design college preparation, and she is a member of CACNY, the College Access Consortium of New York. Teaching experience includes New York City public schools, The Greenwich Japanese School, Drew University, Eugene Lang College and Parsons. Workshops include Dia Center for the Arts, The Drawing Center and KIDI, Kanzawa International Design Institute, Japan. Exhibitions: AIR gallery, Times Square Gallery at Hunter College, Korn Gallery at Drew University, the National Arts Club, Postmasters, Stark Projects and various collaborations in Brooklyn alternative spaces.
