    Profile

Stone Hubbard is an artist, designer, and Assistant Professor at Parsons School of Design, The New School, where he teaches in the School of Fashion and the School of Professional Studies, including pre-college and summer academy programs.

His teaching integrates industry practice with critical design inquiry, emphasizing craftsmanship and professional development.

He previously served as the Footwear and Accessories Technologist and Pre-College Instructor at the Fashion Institute of Technology (SUNY), where he redesigned the pre-college curriculum in footwear and accessories. He has also taught at Brooklyn College, where he co-founded the In Pursuit of Luxury initiative, and at Riverside High School, expanding access to arts education.

Since joining Parsons in 2019, Hubbard has guided award-winning student work in competitions including Craft the Leather (2024) and the Global Footwear Design Award (2021, 2023, 2024, 2025), while fostering industry-aligned collaborations with leading brands such as Keds and Tory Burch. His contributions to teaching and mentoring earned him a nomination for the Distinguished Teaching Award (2022–2023).

In addition to his academic work, Hubbard is the founder and designer of Stone Hubbard New York, a studio producing one-of-a-kind and limited-run fashion products and leather goods. His work has been featured in international media including Vogue Türkiye and Vanity Fair UK and exhibited at Hedi Cho Gallery’s inaugural wearable art exhibition. He has consulted and developed prototypes for contemporary and luxury fashion product and accessories brands, as well as emerging design initiatives such as the EST/WST collective in Nepal. His background in theatrical costume design spans more than two decades, with projects for Universal Studios, Dance Theatre of Harlem, and international stage and film productions.

He holds a BFA in Footwear and Accessories Design (cum laude) and an AAS in Accessories Design (magna cum laude) from the Fashion Institute of Technology, and has completed additional studies at Marymount Manhattan College, Los Angeles City College Theatre Academy, and Otis College of Art and Design.
