Stone Hubbard is an artist, a designer, and an educator. He’s the owner and handbag designer of Stone Hubbard New York, and his bags and leather goods have been commissioned and worn by celebrities such as Nicole Ari Parker, Joss Stone, and Kennedy Davenport. His bags were featured at the Hedi Cho gallery in the Chelsea district of NYC in 2005, the gallery’s first-ever exhibition of wearable art. His fashion products have been seen in Vogue Türkiye, Vanity Fair UK (Handbag Heroes) and spotlighted on E! News and NBC’s NY Live. He has worked on samples for Stuart and Lau, Kenneth Cole, and Michael Kors, as well as countless others.
A four-star thespian from Booker T. Washington High School of the Performing and Visual Arts in Dallas, Texas, Mr. Hubbard utilized his training in theatrical costume design to work with clients including Universal Studios Hollywood, L.A. Theatre Playhouse, and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. He toured as part of the costume crew for Dance Theatre of Harlem, worked production on the films Loving Jezebel, Spark, and The Sparkle to name a few, and was the production supervisor and costume designer for ballet’s debut in west Africa, as part of the Festi Jazz festival in Cabo Verde in 2004.
As an educator, he has developed and implemented numerous programs for enrichment in the creative arts. Mr. Hubbard has taught fashion and culture-based ESL classes at CUNY Brooklyn College. At SUNY's Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), he has nurtured the development of countless award-winning and successful professional accessories designers as their Accessories Design Technologist. At Parsons School of Design The New School, where he is an Assistant Professor, his students have won awards from Craft the leather, Global footwear design award as well as several others and many have been mentioned by Vogue magazine and WWD.
