How do we achieve long-term sustainability, resiliency, and ecological and global justice while promoting environmental preservation? Emerging professionals and action-oriented leaders come together in this master's program to share knowledge, foster debate, and facilitate collaboration. We see community as central to our commitment to social justice and environmental concerns. In seeking systemic responses to the global crisis of inequality and climate change, we center on grassroots, frontline community, and Indigenous approaches.

    Engaged Learning

At The New School, learning happens both in and outside of the classroom. New York City is our learning laboratory and home to many established and emerging environmental organizations with which we partner to address local and global environmental challenges. Students also benefit from resources and initiatives within the university, including the Tishman Environment and Design Center – a space for bold design, policy, and social justice approaches to the environment – as well as action-based collectives of current students and alumni working to create a more sustainable, equitable, and just climate future.
