Engaged Learning
At The New School, learning happens both in and outside of the classroom. New York City is our learning laboratory and home to many established and emerging environmental organizations with which we partner to address local and global environmental challenges.
Students also benefit from resources and initiatives within the university, including the Tishman Environment and Design Center – a space for bold design, policy, and social justice
approaches to the environment – as well as action-based collectives of current students and alumni working to create a more sustainable, equitable, and just climate future.

Career Paths
Graduates of the Environmental Policy and Sustainability Management program emerge as thoughtful, innovative practitioners with the analytical skills and practical tools needed to advance environmental, climate, and social justice for a more sustainable
world. Our alumni are making a difference in government, nonprofits, advocacy and social change organizations, and policy and research institutes, as well as the private sector. They hold senior roles in organizations including the United Nations
Development Programme, the City of Oakland, Con Edison, and the Hunger Project.
